This piece was designed to demo the tabletop game Guild Ball and was made for Steam Forged Games. The play area consists of a 2'x2' cobblestone square. To set the scene I built a side diorama that depicts a market taking place along side repairs to some stone archways which was about 1'x2'. For this piece I made some cobble and flag stone designs and carved them into plaster and then cast them in resin. These sheets were then used to puzzle together the layout you see in the photos by cutting them into more interesting shapes and using divider pieces to hide the cuts. This allowed me to hide the repeating patterns of the casts and made it so I would not have to carve thousands of cobblestones. The arches were carved from pink insulation foam using hand carving techniques and a hot wire table. The stalls, crane, and scaffolding were made using bass wood. The piles of goods come from a company called Tabletop World. This piece was painted using acrylics and weathering powders and was mostly hand painted with some airbrushing to lay down base coats and add weathering.
